Recruitment

Better Choices, as an employer, recognises and is committed to Equal Opportunities in our employment practices. Our policy is to ensure that no potential or existing employee receives less favourable treatment than another on the grounds of sex, race, disability, age, marital status, sexual orientation or any other conditions, which are not relevant to the performance of the job. Individuals are selected, trained, promoted and treated on the basis of their abilities and merits and according to the requirements of the job. Our staff are given equal opportunity to show their ability and to progress within the organisation.

Better Choices advertises staff vacancies in a variety of relevant media, including this website, local and national press and professional bulletins such as Portico.

We are also willing to receive speculative applications from suitably qualified people who would be interested in working for Better Choices to deliver Connexions services. Such applicants are kept on file and then contacted should a suitable vacancy arise. To find out more email our Human Resources department.

Our commitment to staff includes offering

  • an induction programme for all new starters
  • a personal development review system
  • mentoring for staff undertaking NVQ and Connexions training
  • a comprehensive staff development programme that is built around service priorities and personal development issues.

As a company Better Choices Limited has maintained registration against EN BS ISO 9001:2000 and also has IiP accreditation.

Safer Recruitment policy

Better Choices accepts its responsibilities in relation to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and has adopted a Safer Recruitment policy. It checks applicants and all staff with List 99 and CRB (Criminal Records Bureau). It takes up references and carries out both Professional and Personal interviews to ensure that staff are recruited who meet the person specification agreed necessary for that post. Full details of recruitment procedures are sent to people who ask for application forms and details.
