Progress File Materials

Withdrawal of DfES Support for Progress File Materials

Dear Colleague

We are writing to alert you to some news regarding Progress File materials; it appears that DfES are now satisfied that the principles and processes underpinning Progress File are “well established”; and consequently will no longer be making Progress File materials available. DfES is waiving all copyright control and expecting local users to adapt existing materials and processes and develop their own approach that best suits local circumstances.

As far as we are aware there has been no formal consultation with Connexions Services or 14/19 Coordinators concerning this decision and we are unsure as to how DfES is informing users of the new circumstance; other than this link from its Progress File site; which has important information concerning the ordering, accessing and availability of remaining materials for 2005/2006 academic year; including a deadline for orders of April 13th.2006. Please take the time to read the details contained.

We will be working with local partners to see how best we can respond to these new circumstances and exploring ways we can transfer existing usable data to our own information and resource storage systems.

Yours sincerely

Gareth Nixon
